New Artistry

Over the last few months I have been working extensively with Roxana, helping her create the Art of Botanical Perfume online course. This is an accredited curriculum for the School of Aromatic Studies. It is a comprehensive beginners course for students interested in learning the olfactory arts through the lens of historical botanical materials and more. Roxana is an aromatherapist and thus able to bring this science and knowledge to the course.

First we shot video of Roxana with Brian Oh, a videographer from Seattle, and it has been months of editing ever since. Essentially this has been a crash course for me to learn Final Cut X and the art of teaching a class with film. The above clip is called, Artistry and is about Roxana’s approach to creativity and what she calls “Circular Thinking.” This gives you a very small taste of what I have doing with these pieces. Overall I have edited almost three hours of footage for all the lessons, integrating imagery and music as you see here.

It has been a challenge, but I am learning a lot and will be sharing more of this art form in all sorts of ways in the coming months.
