There is a grand tradition of story telling through the eyes of illustrators.
This is an introductory course on the history, and timeless principles that
illustrators use to make great art. We will make art with the purpose of telling
stories in unique and powerful ways. The focus of this class is to learn how to
distill down the components of a story into images that communicate in simple,
unique and beautiful ways.

This is not a class on technique or about creating finished pieces of art. Students will be exploring ideas through sketches so any dry media they are comfortable with can be used, including the computer. In addition there will be reviews of portfolios, a review of individual artistic goals along with insight on illustration careers.

A. Learn the basic history of the illustration world.
